Hey there, I'm Ben from Germany and I'm the guy behind jellysuite. Here's a bit more info about who you're buying from and why I'm building jellysuite. I essentially grew up with computers and the internet. I disassembled my first computer when I was 11 years old (thanks mom and dad), I've worked with fortune 500 companies and fast moving startups and I've bootstrapped multiple companies on the side since then.
I'm also a big fan of the open internet and its weirdness: a place where people can make things, speak freely and find their people and communities. I love open source and I've learned a ton from it growing up. I care deeply about keeping the internet distributed, open and private. A lot of everyday software now works against that.
Most of the tools we use to write, plan and talk are paid for, one way or another, by what we put in them. They read what you write, sell what they learn or train models on it. And the laws around private communication keep getting looser.
The obvious answer is to switch to something private. But many private tools ask you to give up a great user experience. They make privacy feels like homework. So most people never switch, and their work simply stays with big corporations, readable by whoever runs the server.
I don't think you should have to choose. So I'm building a workspace you'd pick even if you had no idea it was encrypting anything.
Mail, documents, files, calendars and everything around them, good on their own terms, with the encryption doing its job quietly in the background. Everything is encrypted on your device before it reaches us, with keys only you hold. I run and maintain the servers that run the application, the mail sending and everything in between. If I do it right, all you see is none of the complexity but simply a polished suite of tools for work. I believe privacy has to work for the people who'd never go looking for a privacy tool too.
On top of that (and equally important): jellysuite is paid for only by its users. No ads, no tracking, and no outside money from investors. Your encrypted data sits on our servers in Germany and Finland. The transparency page says exactly what those servers can and can't see, the philosophy page lists the promises you can hold us to, and the company details are in the legal notice.
Thanks for reading, and for considering jellysuite. If you have questions or thoughts, write to me at hello@jellysuite.com or through the contact page. I look forward to hearing from you.
